Instant telecom integration and NFV is now a reality

by Maarten Ectors on 9 June 2014

At TADHack in Madrid, Metaswitch, Telestax and Canonical proved that instant telecom integration and NFV is now a reality. We showed that anybody can  deploy, integrate and scale a telecom solution in minutes on any public cloud, private cloud or bare-metal server with Juju.

Traditionally a telecom integrator installs an IMS in 12 months and the project will likely cost around $10 million. Integrating an IMS with external application servers that can deliver value added services is often extra.

Metaswitch‘s extremely scalable open source IMS Project Clearwater and Telestax next generation cloud communication platform, Restcomm can now be deployed, integrated and scaled via a simple drag-and-drop. You can try a demo or better deploy it for real. Just deploy Juju and the Juju GUI and search for Clearwater, then drag-and-drop “Clearwater-Restcomm” from the left to the canvas on the right.

Juju is not limited to these solutions only. During TADHack deployment of Tropo‘s Ameche made good progress. Dialogic made it possible to deploy a TURN/STUN server for WebRTC. Basically, Juju brings value to any telecom software that benefits from being deployed, integrated and scaled in minutes.

The hitchhiker’s guide to infrastructure modernization

One of my favourite authors, Douglas Adams, once said that “we are stuck with technology when what we really want is just stuff that works.” Whilst Adams is right about a lot of things, he got this one wrong – at least when it comes to infrastructure. As our Infra Masters 2025 event demonstrated, infrastructure […]

Effortless observability for Django applications

Observability is critical for web operations to ensure that the application is working as expected and to identify any potential issues. However, setting up observability has traditionally been challenging because it can take hours to set up all the infrastructure, instrument your code and enable observability in production. But now there […]
